About Taste Social
A restaurant and bar built around the table, not the trend.
Good food, better company, and a room designed to hold both for as long as you want to stay.
The Story
We wanted somewhere that worked for lunch, dinner and everything after.
Taste Social started with a simple, slightly stubborn belief: sharing plates, done properly, make strangers into a table of friends by the second course. We wanted a menu built for the middle of the table rather than the individual plate, a bar that takes cocktails as seriously as the kitchen takes its grill, and a room that doesn't need to change gear between a Tuesday lunch and a Friday night.
One detail guests tend to ask about: our owner Philip is also a musician, and writes the original music you'll hear playing in the room. It's not the reason Taste Social exists, but it's one of the things that makes it feel like nowhere else — you can read more on the Music page.
Food & Drink Philosophy
Chinese tapas, poured with intent.
Everything on the food menu is built to be shared — small plates rooted in Chinese cooking, designed to land in the middle of the table rather than in front of one person. On the drinks side, cocktails are developed alongside new tracks, not after them, so a serve and a song can be released together.
We keep the wine list short and change it with the seasons — picked to hold up against spice and umami, not fight with it. We'd rather have twelve bottles we can talk about properly than eighty we can't.
Dining & Socialising
We don't think of them as two different nights out.
Dining
A menu built for the middle of the table, not the individual plate. Best ordered with at least one person you don't fully agree with about food.
Socialising
Long tables, a bar you can actually stand at, and lighting that dims slowly enough that nobody notices dinner turning into a Friday night.
A Detail Worth Knowing
The music in the room is original, written by owner Philip — a nice surprise, not the headline act. More on the Music page.
